Can the library interlibrary loan ebooks?

Answer

Yes,  but only on a limited basis.  SUNY Oneonta is participating in the SUNY eBook Lending Project.  This project permits Oneonta students, faculty, and staff to borrow selective ebook titles owned by other SUNY campuses.  Not all ebooks are available for borrowing as the pilot is limited to publishers who agreed to participate in the pilot.  The publishers include:

  • Taylor and Francis: (no textbooks or content newer than pub year = 2019)
  • Brill
  • NYU Press
  • OUP
  • Duke
  • Bloomsbury

Ebooks will be available for borrowing for two weeks.

Ebooks that available for borrowing will have the status Request Access under the Full text availability in the catalog record.  An example is below and in the Links & Files section.

Patrons will then be directed to SUNY eBook Lending Pilot form. Completed the required areas of the form.  Once the request is placed, an email will be sent with the link to the ebook.
